Creating a Digital College

A digital collage is an art form where various virtual images, photos, and digital elements are layered together to create a cohesive new artwork.

1. Open your editing software (like Photoshop, Canva, or Photopea).
2. Create a new document and set the resolution (300 DPI for print, 72 DPI for web).
3. Import your primary background image to serve as the base layer.
4. Add your additional images as new individual layers.
5. Select the subjects you want to keep using a selection tool (like the Lasso or Quick Selection).
6. Apply a Layer Mask to hide the backgrounds of those subjects without deleting them.
7. Resize and rotate each element using the Free Transform tool ( CTRL+T).
8. Reposition the layers by dragging them up or down in the Layers Panel to fix the “overlap.”
9. Change the Blending Modes (like “Multiply” or “Overlay”) to merge textures smoothly.
10. Adjust the opacity of layers to create depth or transparency.
11. Apply an Adjustment Layer (like Color Balance) at the very top to unify the lighting of all pieces.
12. Save your project as a master file (.PSD) to keep your layers for future edits.
13. Export the final version as a high-quality JPG or PNG to share.
